Job Overview

At Timothy Jon & Associates, we are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed estimates for commercial projects based on construction drawings and specifications.

The Estimator role involves:

  • Developing conceptual estimates using program information and historical costs to ensure accurate project pricing.
  • Preparing quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for industrial/warehouse projects, including detailed breakdowns of materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Creating bids and proposals for various contract types, such as Lump Sum, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Cost Plus, and others, to ensure comprehensive project scope and pricing.
  • Conducting detailed quantity surveys/take-offs both electronically and manually to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyzing constructability by identifying design and construction issues to minimize project risks and costs.
  • Acting as a liaison with subcontractors, design teams, and clients/owners to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Providing a detailed estimate of assigned trades, building systems, and overall project costs to inform project decisions.
  • Coordinating with estimators to ensure no scope gaps or overlaps in assigned trades.
  • Evaluating subcontractor proposals to manage scope coverage and minimize risks.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in estimating.
  • Experience with projects exceeding $5 million.
  • Familiarity with Destini or similar electronic takeoff software.
  • Knowledge of Revit is a plus.
