About the Global Digital Partnerships Team

The Global Digital Partnerships division collaborates with prominent digital platforms and fintech companies to leverage Visa's extensive network and capabilities, crafting new user experiences and payment solutions. This team engages closely with founders and leaders across North America and beyond.

Position Summary

The Director of Solution Engineering will possess extensive product and technical expertise in digital financial services. This role is pivotal in collaborating with product teams, account managers, sales personnel, and clients to deliver optimal solutions that meet customer objectives in payment integration, market expansion, and cost management.

Success in this position requires a strong commitment to ownership, a customer-centric approach to problem-solving, and a blend of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and a passion for innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical and product expert, collaborating with clients and Visa sales teams to explore partnership opportunities across Visa's product offerings.
  • Assist in both on-site and virtual sales presentations, workshops, and client renewals.
  • Support the entire sales cycle from initial discovery calls to RFI/RFP processes and detailed product workshops.
  • Conduct discovery sessions to identify business requirements and value drivers, and facilitate workshops that outline business value propositions and proposed solution architectures.
  • Lead the development and delivery of Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) that drive business growth for clients.
  • Communicate technical requirements and implementation considerations, working closely with product owners to refine technical flows.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the product development roadmap and advocate for client needs within product teams.
  • Deliver high-quality executive proposals and presentations tailored to C-suite stakeholders.
  • Provide insights on product and competitive landscape to inform product development strategies.
  • Build and nurture productive relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Lead various internal projects as assigned.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to relay market feedback and contribute to innovative solution design.
  • Document and develop best practices for solution selling, including playbooks and revenue strategies.
  • Recommend enhancements to sales techniques based on market trends and research.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 7 years with an Advanced Degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years with an Advanced Degree.
  • Experience in solutions engineering and pre-sales, particularly in fintech or payments.
  • Strong understanding of financial services markets, especially in card payments and electronic transactions.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments with product, marketing, sales, and customer success teams.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Product Management or Solution Engineering roles.
  • Proficient in requirements gathering and IT systems integration.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a strong advocacy mindset.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills, capable of engaging with all management levels.
  • International experience with knowledge of local business practices.
  • Interest in innovation and technology.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems, finance, or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
