Job Title: School Administrator

Location: Hays Consolidated Independent School District

Job Summary:

The School Administrator will oversee the management of assigned areas of instructional programs and campus operations. This role is responsible for directing and managing assigned student activities and services, as well as overseeing campus operations in the principal's absence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Management:
    • Develop and implement innovative instructional programs, collaborating with teachers to pilot new efforts and evaluate their effectiveness.
    • Reinforce expectations for staff performance in instructional strategies and classroom management, fostering a culture of excellence.
    • Encourage staff participation in the decision-making process, promoting a sense of ownership and collaboration.
  • School/Organizational Improvement:
    • Take a leadership role in planning and implementing activities to achieve the school's mission, collaborating with staff, parents, and community members.
    • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans, ensuring alignment with district goals and objectives.
    • Help the principal develop and maintain information systems to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
  • Student Management:
    • Act as campus behavioral coordinator, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations.
    • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system, promoting positive behavior and a safe school climate.
    • Ensure uniform application of school rules and equitable discipline, in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management:
    • Oversee campus operations in the principal's absence, ensuring continuity of services and support.
    • Take a leadership role in planning and scheduling daily school activities, including class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
    • Oversee reporting and monitoring of student attendance, working with staff to address issues and improve outcomes.
  • Personnel Management:
    • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences, serving as a second appraiser as needed.
    • Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff, ensuring a smooth transition and effective onboarding process.
  • School/Community Relations:
    • Articulate the school's mission to the community, soliciting support and engagement in realizing the school's goals and objectives.
    • Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs, initiating activities to meet those needs and promote community involvement.

Requirements:

  • Education/Certification: Master's degree from an accredited university, Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate, and Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser.
  • Experience: Two years of experience as a classroom teacher.

Working Conditions:

  • May work prolonged or irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Exposure to noise, inclement weather, and other environmental factors.
  • Occasional districtwide and statewide travel.
