About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at the Kyle Correctional Center in Kyle, Texas. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the administrative and maintenance services of our departments, ensuring a safe and secure working environment for our staff and inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and coordinate the administrative and maintenance services of the departments, ensuring effective management of staff and duties assigned.
  2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, and recommend and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the designated warden.
  3. Create systems to effectively manage staff and duties assigned, ensuring compliance with program requirements and safety/building codes.
  4. Assist the warden in the preparation of the departmental budget, monitor and control expenditures, and assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting maintenance.
  5. Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure proper repair, facility improvement, and preventive maintenance.
  6. Perform maintenance tasks on buildings, grounds, and equipment as needed, and maintain an effective work order system.
  7. Train, supervise, and evaluate inmates assigned to the department.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
  • Seven (7) years full-time, wage-earning facilities maintenance or construction experience.
  • Two (2) years full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees or inmates.
  • Thirty (30) semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for a maximum substitution of three (3) years.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete and pass annual background check and in-service training requirements, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
