Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Akron Children's Hospital. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will provide continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients.
  • Implement evidence-based de-escalation interventions to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Remain alert and attentive at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Provide direct patient care, including vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Stock linens and supplies as needed.
  • Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPIC.
  • Prioritize and execute tasks for assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.
  • Maintain a calm and professional presence for patients and their family members.
  • Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

Working Conditions:

This is a PRN position, working 7pm-7:30am, onsite at Akron Children's Hospital.
