POSITION SUMMARY

The Crew Leader II is responsible for overseeing the activities of grounds maintenance teams, ensuring the upkeep of municipal properties, parks, and recreational fields. This role includes inspecting drainage systems and maintaining aesthetic and functional landscapes.


REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; certifications in horticulture or landscaping are advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of experience in park maintenance with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Valid Texas Driver's license.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Understanding of horticultural methods, grounds maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Skilled in operating and managing various landscaping tools and equipment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and scheduling tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and lead a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff within the Parks Division.
  • Organize and prioritize daily operations to optimize resource use and achieve departmental goals.
  • Manage landscaping tasks, including mowing, trimming, planting, and facility upkeep.
  • Engage in hands-on maintenance work while mentoring and training team members.
  • Implement safety measures and ensure adherence to departmental guidelines.
  • Collaborate with management to plan and execute events and projects in parks.
  • Conduct routine inspections to assess maintenance requirements and address them effectively.
  • Oversee inventory management of supplies and equipment, processing requisitions as needed.
  • Encourage a positive and cooperative work atmosphere, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
  • Assist in evaluating team performance and providing constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


This role is essential and requires service provision during emergencies.
