Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Shelter Program Coordinator to join our team at The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory. As a key member of our residential services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our shelter program, providing exceptional client care, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily needs, including intake procedures, record-keeping, and monitoring of facility activities
  • Ensure compliance with house rules and regulations, and maintain accurate records and logs
  • Conduct routine checks of the facility to ensure security and safety
  • Perform client intake procedures, including running sexual offender checks and administering Breathalyzer testing
  • Prepare and distribute meal and shower tickets, assign bed numbers, and secure and distribute client medications as required
  • Assign daily cooking, cleaning, and maintenance chores to clients and ensure completion of such
  • Inspect the facility on a routine basis to ensure compliance with established standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including communicating with first responders in emergency situations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • One year prior experience performing security or social services work in a shelter or similar environment
  • Valid State Drivers License (preferred)
  • Food Handlers Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
  • CPR or First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a residential facility with little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
