The Lead Financial Analyst is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and review of financial reports in accordance with established accounting standards for the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network.

This role involves reconciling accounts from the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and generating month-end financial reports. The analyst identifies intricate accounting issues, investigates solutions, and implements corrective actions. They review financial documents to ensure compliance with accounting regulations and may take the lead on special projects. This position requires a blend of experience and judgment to effectively plan and execute various complex tasks. A thorough understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential for fulfilling the core responsibilities of this role, including special projects and other necessary tasks. A significant degree of creativity and independence is expected, along with the ability to guide the work of others.

Key Responsibilities:
A typical day for a Lead Financial Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. Timely reconciliation, analysis, and adjustment of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

2. Maintaining precise details in support of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that reflect the organization's financial status.

3. Utilizing sound statistical methods to verify accuracy.

4. Communicating effectively in both written and verbal formats, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and grammatical correctness in all correspondence.

5. Engaging with financial institutions, tax authorities, external auditors, corporate offices, and other stakeholders to accurately account for and report financial data.

6. Ensuring that all generated reports provide meaningful and timely insights. Responding promptly and thoroughly to customer inquiries. Completing and analyzing all audit work papers within designated time frames to facilitate efficient audits. Collaborating with internal and external auditors as necessary.

7. Preparing and submitting accurate journal entries by the monthly closing date: Compiling and attaching necessary supporting documentation, ensuring approvals are secured prior to filing, and entering entries in the general ledger in a timely manner. Adhering to a monthly close calendar and meeting deadlines for deliverables.


8. Identifying accounting challenges and internal control deficiencies, researching potential solutions, and presenting findings and recommendations to senior management for further consideration.


9. Contributing to the preparation and filing of Federal/State payroll tax returns, quarterly state sales/use tax returns, Federal/State corporate tax returns, and annual reports.

Additional duties and projects may be assigned as needed.

Adhering to HMH's organizational competencies and standards of conduct is essential.

Required Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and

Abilities:
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

2. A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in accounting.

3. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

4. Highly organized self-starter with effective time management and organizational skills.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

6. Proficient in computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel) and/or Google Suite platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.

2. Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Public Accountant.
