Job Summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Coordinator for Aquatics to join our Recreational Sports team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage our aquatics programs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility and Risk Management: Assist in the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures for the Aquatics area. Evaluate existing policies according to industry standards and make changes when necessary.
  • Program and Policy Management: Manage the Aquatic programs offered, including American Red Cross Safety Programs, and any additional programs to meet the needs of the student body and university community.
  • Personnel, Fiscal, and Strategic Management: Assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of a staff of 75-100 Lifeguards, Aquatics Managers, Swim Lesson Instructors, Safety Training Instructors, and Program Assistant(s).
Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of aquatics programming and management
  • Evidence of training staff in student learning and development outcomes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Proven ability in developing effective working relationships with university students, faculty, staff, alumni, administrators, and the community
  • Proven dynamic and innovative leadership in recreational sports with the ability to work successfully individually and as a member of a team
  • Possess evidence of supervisory experience
Working Conditions
  • Frequently move throughout the 440,000 sq. ft Ramsey Student Center to stand; walk; sit; reach
  • Climb up and down ladders and in small spaces; walk across narrow accesses such as 1.5 ft. widths
  • Operate department owned vehicles to run job related errands
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and focus
  • Distinguishing between non-toxic air flow and noxious odors
