Job Summary

As an LPN, Occupational Health Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive care experience and work environment. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide nursing and administrative support to clinicians and other healthcare team members, offering a range of healthcare services to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize patients' office visits, ensuring all necessary tests, clinical information, and order entries are ready for clinician review.
  • Perform focused/limited nursing assessments and triage on routine or self-limiting medical conditions, recognizing when to defer to or assist with comprehensive assessments for complex medical conditions.
  • Utilize standardized tools to identify and address health maintenance/care gaps with patients and alert clinicians to those requiring attention.
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of common and routine medical conditions/illnesses, implement planned nursing and medical interventions as delegated by clinicians, and contribute to the development, implementation, or modification of individualized patient plans of care.
  • Prepare patients for actual visits/procedures, ensure exam/procedure rooms contain necessary supplies, equipment, forms, and educational materials, and check equipment for safe working order.
  • Provide health teaching/education or advice on routine or self-limiting medical conditions, procedures, tests, surgeries, self-injections, etc.
  • Use KP HealthConnect and other information systems to document all pertinent data and outcomes of nursing care according to standardized procedures and policies.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Practical Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire or Compact License: Practical Nurse within 6 months of hire.
  • Practical Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical nursing skills, interpersonal and customer service skills, communication skills, literacy in using computers and keyboarding, problem-solving, setting priorities, and using good judgment for decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2+) years of nursing experience in assigned departments' clinical area within an ambulatory care setting.
  • IV therapy experience or recent certification.
  • Familiarity in documenting in an electronic medical record system.
  • Current working knowledge and clinical skills in providing routine care, education, and advice in assigned departments' clinical area or successful completion of appropriate competencies for assigned primary/specialty care department.
