Job Summary

We are seeking highly skilled Principal Infrared Survivability Engineers (Level 3 or 4) and Senior Principal Infrared Survivability Engineers to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our Survivability Engineering team, you will play a critical role in developing, testing, and implementing new materials, technologies, and concepts that enable the most lethal, intelligent, and collaborative systems to penetrate and operate in enemy airspace with impunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of infrared survivability systems and technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate infrared survivability systems with other engineering disciplines
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and technicians
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in infrared radiation physics, materials, and technologies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (e.g., physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering) and 5 years of related professional/military engineering experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years of related professional/military engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of infrared radiation physics as it relates to aircraft survivability
  • Experience in infrared signature analysis using test data and/or infrared simulation tools
  • Experience in laboratory and/or in-flight testing of infrared technologies and materials
  • Familiarity with Python, C++, and/or other programming languages
  • Familiarity with NX and/or other computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills
  • Current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance is required to start, and an active Special Access Programs (SAPs) clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced understanding of infrared radiation physics as it relates to aircraft survivability
  • Extensive knowledge of thin film material design, fabrication, and qualifications processes
  • Expertise in the design, planning, and execution of both laboratory and in-flight testing of infrared technologies and materials
  • General understanding of aircraft radar signatures and radar cross section reduction techniques
  • Experience with proposal writing and project cost estimation
  • Experience in project and/or supply-chain management
  • Current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Access Programs (SAPs)
