Job Title: Infrared Survivability Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Infrared Survivability Engineer to join our team. As an Infrared Survivability Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions to reduce the detectability of aircraft in the electromagnetic, infrared, visual, and acoustic spectrums.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use cutting-edge technology to reduce the detectability of aircraft
  • Predict the performance of designs using proprietary analysis codes
  • Verify predictions and designs through physical modeling and testing
  • Optimize designs for stealth while meeting requirements of other engineering disciplines
  • Take responsibility for achieving customer goals and balancing designs in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of infrared radiation physics as it relates to aircraft survivability
  • Experience in infrared signature analysis using test data and/or infrared simulation tools
  • Experience in laboratory and/or in-flight testing of infrared technologies and materials
  • Familiarity with Python, C++, and/or other programming languages
  • Familiarity with NX and/or other computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills
  • Current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced understanding of infrared radiation physics and relevant technologies and materials
  • Extensive knowledge of thin film material design, fabrication, and qualification processes
  • Expertise in design, planning, and execution of laboratory and in-flight testing of infrared technologies and materials
  • General understanding of aircraft radar signatures and radar cross section reduction techniques
  • Experience with proposal writing and project cost estimation
  • Experience in project and/or supply-chain management
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range: $104,600 - $157,000
