Your Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled engineer to join our Future Nuclear Deterrent Systems Engineering department. In this position, you will play a crucial role in executing Rapid System Integration projects that utilize advanced reentry vehicles and next-generation weapon systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will contribute to a vital mission of integrating innovative system designs under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement novel design, build, and testing methodologies to enhance readiness across Sandia and the Weapons Complex.
  • Collaborate with various teams across Sandia Labs and partner sites to achieve project goals.
  • Facilitate discussions on Nuclear Deterrence Command and Control concepts.
  • Utilize configuration management tools to archive and link products for reliable reference.
  • Design avionics systems, wire harnesses, high-speed circuits, and conduct electronic testing.
  • Work alongside firmware and embedded software engineers to validate electronic hardware designs.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and qualification engineers to ensure compliance with stringent environmental testing standards.
  • Assist in the environmental testing of electronic components.
  • Support system integration activities for avionics components in preparation for system delivery.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $109,300 - $217,400, based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, along with five years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in circuit modeling, analysis, testing, or integration.
  • An active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience in delivering rapid-turnaround hardware solutions.
  • Familiarity with nuclear weapon command and control systems.
  • Expertise in electronic design for mixed-signal circuits and simulation.
  • Knowledge of amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, digital design, FPGA, and power regulation circuits.
  • Experience with digital communication standards.
  • Proficiency in electronic circuit verification through simulation.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design tools and PCB layout.
  • Understanding of the Nuclear Weapons qualification process.
  • Knowledge of non-destructive evaluation technologies.
  • Experience with aging and lifetime assessments.
  • Background in Agile product development.

Security Clearance:

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance or an equivalent active security clearance from another U.S. government agency. Candidates must be able to maintain this clearance, which necessitates U.S. citizenship.
