Position Overview:
A client of Talascend is seeking a skilled Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to support various projects in the nuclear and energy sectors. This role is pivotal in delivering advanced engineering solutions for Department of Energy initiatives and other industrial power generation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the electrical and instrumentation engineering team within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, focusing on cutting-edge electrical distribution and control systems.
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients, project management, procurement teams, and other engineering disciplines regarding project electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Develop comprehensive electrical and instrumentation design documents, including the basis of design and scope of work.
  • Create detailed equipment specifications for electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, and motor controls.
  • Prepare specifications for instrumentation and control systems, including DCS, PLCs, and monitoring systems.
  • Generate electrical and I&C wiring diagrams, cabinet layouts, and network schematics.
  • Ensure the technical accuracy and adherence to project design criteria of all engineering deliverables.
  • Utilize appropriate procedures, design guidelines, and tools throughout project execution.
  • Travel to various project sites to provide support and showcase the client's engineering capabilities.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in electrical engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Progress towards or possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in nuclear-related design standards (NQA-1, NRTL, etc.).
  • Proficient understanding of electrical distribution systems across multiple voltage levels (120 VAC, 480 VAC, 4160 VAC, and 13 KV).
  • Familiarity with power analysis design software such as ETAP or SKM Power Tools.
  • Ability to interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Competence in instrumentation selection and datasheet preparation.
  • Expertise in Control System Design (PLC, DCS).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
