Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Investment Manager to join our team at the Council on Foreign Relations. As a key member of our investment team, you will be responsible for overseeing the endowment portfolio, advising the Investment Committee, and collaborating with our Chief Investment Officer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead existing manager monitoring by maintaining records, participating in annual meetings, and contributing to qualitative and quantitative assessments.
  • Participate in research of new managers and investment ideas, support due diligence efforts, and craft recommendation materials for the Investment Committee.
  • Support and enhance the investment team's regular performance and risk analysis of the portfolio, including private investment modeling, exposure analysis, and performance attribution.
  • Contribute to the analysis of portfolio asset allocation and strategy, assist with the formulation of investment policies and governance documents.
  • Support the development of quarterly discussion materials and participate in regular presentations to the Investment Committee and Investment Advisory Group.
  • Build relationships with managers, peers, and marketers to improve the investment team's sourcing and diligence capabilities.
  • Utilize analytical tools and resources to assess the attractiveness of global markets and investment strategies.
  • Contribute to the regular operations of the investment team, including scheduling, travel planning, and managing budgets and expenses.
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of external software and data providers to improve the efficiency of the investment function.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record.
  • A minimum of five years of related work experience, preferably with an emphasis on manager due diligence.
  • Excellent research, critical thinking, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data and information.
  • Keen interest in a broad range of investment topics and a willingness to learn about new investment strategies and approaches.
  • Creative problem solver, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Poise and maturity, with the ability to represent the Council on Foreign Relations to the broader investment community.
  • Desire and ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented environment, partnering collegially with a small team.
  • High level of integrity, intellectual capability, honesty, and ethics.
  • Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, familiarity with Bloomberg and Solovis preferred.
