Overview

As a pivotal figure in the solar construction sector, you will be accountable for overseeing, strategizing, and managing comprehensive construction projects from their initial stages through to successful completion. Your role will ensure that client specifications are fulfilled while adhering to established timelines and budgetary constraints, all within the framework of MasTec's safety protocols and operational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Promote and uphold all safety policies, objectives, and initiatives among the project team.
  • Execute all responsibilities of a Construction Manager II while also fulfilling the advanced duties of a Construction Manager III.
  • Lead the project team alongside the Project Manager to foster a respectful and constructive work environment.
  • Direct the overall management, coordination, and assessment of the project.
  • Supervise construction personnel and their team leaders, including other Construction Managers.
  • Coordinate the activities of Construction Managers, Foremen, and various trade workers, as well as suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Implement supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and relevant legislation.
  • Oversee and direct the progression of the construction site.
  • Identify the necessity for and negotiate Change Orders in collaboration with the Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager.
  • Assess labor needs for the project.
  • Track project expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary limits.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules to monitor time, output, and project requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with established regulations.
  • Analyze project cost metrics and adapt strategies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Review, communicate, and enhance productivity assessments provided by the Project Manager.
  • Maintain systematic and organized records.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation for the entire project is monitored.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats to large groups, including employees, clients, or engineers.
  • Uphold and enforce discipline across the job site.
  • Conduct interviews, hire, and train direct reports; plan, assign, and oversee work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline employees; address grievances and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the Client's site management team to meet their expectations and ensure satisfaction with a safely constructed and quality-installed product.
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure that the Client's expectations are managed realistically and align with the agreed scope of work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Solar or EPC Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of construction techniques, estimating, and management.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory capacity.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Commitment to personal and others' health and safety, adhering to MasTec's Zero Injury principles.
  • Ability to organize, instruct, and supervise a construction crew across all aspects of construction.
  • Proficient in cost estimation.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction tools, machinery, methods, and procedures.
  • Capable of forecasting and monitoring project costs.
  • Understanding of construction methodologies, scheduling, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to motivate and communicate effectively with team members and superiors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, internet applications, and project documentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting safety regulations, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective public speaking skills for addressing groups of clients or employees.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and data collection.
  • Adept at interpreting complex technical instructions.
