Overview

As a pivotal figure in overseeing solar construction projects, you will be responsible for directing, planning, and managing the entire construction process from initial concept to final execution. Your role will ensure that client specifications are met while adhering to the project timeline and budget, all within the framework of MasTec's safety and procedural standards.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Promote and uphold all safety policies, objectives, and initiatives among the project team.
  • Perform all responsibilities expected of a Construction Manager II, in addition to those required of a Construction Manager III.
  • Lead the project team alongside the Project Manager to foster a respectful and constructive work environment.
  • Oversee the overall direction, coordination, and assessment of the construction project.
  • Supervise construction personnel and their leads, including other Construction Managers.
  • Coordinate the activities of Construction Managers, Foremen, and various trade workers, as well as suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Execute supervisory duties in alignment with organizational policies and legal regulations.
  • Monitor and guide the progress of construction activities on-site.
  • Identify the need for and negotiate Change Orders in collaboration with the Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager.
  • Assess labor needs for the project.
  • Track project costs to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain production schedules to meet project timelines and requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with established regulations.
  • Analyze project cost indices and adapt strategies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Review and improve productivity metrics provided by the Project Manager.
  • Maintain organized and systematic records.
  • Oversee all necessary documentation for the entire project.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats to large groups, including employees, clients, and engineers.
  • Enforce discipline across the job site.
  • Conduct interviews, hire, and train direct reports; plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the client’s site management team to ensure their expectations are met and that they are satisfied with the quality and safety of the construction.
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure that client expectations are realistically managed and aligned with the project scope.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Solar or EPC Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in the construction industry, with a solid understanding of construction techniques, estimating, and management.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory capacity is essential.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Commitment to health and safety principles, taking personal responsibility for achieving MasTec's Zero Injury goals.
  • Ability to organize, instruct, and supervise a construction crew across all aspects of the project.
  • Proficient in cost estimation.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction tools, machinery, methods, and procedures.
  • Capability to forecast and monitor project costs effectively.
  • Understanding of construction methodologies, scheduling, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and communicate effectively with team members and superiors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and adept at managing project documentation.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective public speaking skills for addressing groups of employees or clients.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and data interpretation.
  • Ability to understand complex technical instructions.
