Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the Department of Mental Health-Columbia Area Mental Health Center. As a key member of our Crisis Stabilization Unit, you will provide exceptional care to patients in need of crisis intervention and stabilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to promote recovery, stabilization, and independence for patients based on their individual needs and plan of care.
  • Collect, organize, and record data and information in patient medical records according to quality assurance standards, CARF guidelines, and corporate compliance standards.
  • Administer psychiatric medication to patients in the CSU, maintaining a collaborative working relationship with supervisors and clinicians to ensure proper arrangements are made for medication administration and appointments.
  • Evaluate medical health issues and medications of patients in relation to their psychiatric diagnosis, including monitoring of psychiatric medications and review of lab reports.
  • Regularly attend and participate in treatment team meetings, supervisory meetings, nursing in-service, and serve on Center and SCDMH committees as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing and two years of experience, or a three-year diploma and two years of experience, or an associate degree in nursing and two years of experience as a registered nurse, one of which must have been in a community health program.
