Nurse Specialist, Wound Care Clinic

Medstar is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our Wound Care Clinic team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide high-quality patient care and education to individuals with complex wound care needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide primary nursing care to patients being evaluated for and/or treated for wounds.
- Teach and counsel patients and families regarding wound care, treatments, and medications.
- Assess and manage patient symptoms related to illness and/or injury.
- Coordinate and schedule diagnostic studies, and monitor results.
- Make appropriate patient referrals to outside agencies or professionals.
- Provide physical care to patients, including vital signs, pain assessments, dressing changes, and wound care.
- Assist providers with exams and identify patient problems.
- Triages patient phone calls and determines if intervention is necessary.
- Communicate with providers and document patient information.
- Maintain medical equipment and supplies, and ensure proper functioning.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required, Master's degree preferred.
- 1-2 years experience in nursing, preferably in wound care.
- Current DC (District of Columbia) License of a Registered Nurse required.
