Cranemasters is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for implementing and managing our safety program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting a culture of safety within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Develop and implement safety training programs for employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide guidance to managers, supervisors, and field personnel on safe work practices and risk mitigation strategies.
- Stay up-to-date with new and changing laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to enforce safety rules, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum of five years' experience in occupational safety, risk management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, laws, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products Suite and related software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 500/501 certification.
- Certification as an MSHA Trainer.
- Certified to deliver Red Cross Training - First Aid, AED, CPR.
- Experience with Respiratory Protection training and fit testing.
- Experience as a Fall Protection Competent Person.
- Experience with confined space training.
- Experience with Cranes and/or heavy equipment.
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking; periodic walking on uneven surfaces and in ballast.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
- May be exposed to inclement weather conditions.
- Working extended hours.
- Nature of work and associated responsibilities are often performed under stressful conditions.
Working Conditions:
Cranemasters is a 24/7 emergency service provider to the railroad industry, and as such, the Safety Specialist is subject to call-in/call-back on a 24/7 basis. In addition, this position requires that employees will work outside of their normal work hours, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
