Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs for employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Cranemasters policies and procedures at the division/department level.
  • Provide guidance to managers, supervisors, and field personnel on safe work practices and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with new and changing laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in safety program implementation and management.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergency situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products Suite and related software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • OSHA 500/501 certification.
  • Certification as an MSHA Trainer.
  • Certified to deliver Red Cross Training - First Aid, AED, CPR.
  • Experience with Respiratory Protection training and fit testing.
  • Experience as a Fall Protection Competent Person.
Physical Demands:
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking; periodic walking on uneven surfaces and in ballast.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.

Cranemasters is a 24/7 emergency service provider to the railroad industry, and as such, the Safety Specialist is subject to call-in/call-back on a 24/7 basis. In addition, this position requires that employees will work outside of their normal work hours, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
