Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Coordinator to join our team at the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional service and support to our aquatic programs, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our members and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Aquatics Director in the development and implementation of aquatic programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate aquatics staff, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure efficient and effective program delivery.
  • Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to promote and execute fundraising activities and events.
  • Maintain pool water quality, systems, and facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Order and manage pool equipment, supplies, and materials, ensuring timely delivery and inventory management.
  • Assist in scheduling programs and pool usage, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and hospitality, responding to member and staff needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director, ensuring the smooth operation of aquatic programs and services.
Requirements
  • 2-year degree in a related field (e.g., aquatics, recreation, or a related field).
  • 2-4 years of experience in aquatic operations, preferably in a leadership or management role.
  • Current lifeguard certification, American Red Cross Lifeguard certification preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Certified Pool Operator license, preferred or obtained within six months of hire.
  • Experience teaching swim lessons and water fitness instruction, preferred.
Work Environment/Physical and Mental Demands

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced aquatic environment, with frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions. The physical demands of the job include lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The mental demands include working in a team environment, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple responsibilities.
