Job Overview

Botetourt County is seeking applications for multiple Seasonal Site Supervisor roles within the Parks & Recreation Department.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour

The selected candidates will provide essential support for various recreational programs, including planning, leading, and managing the setup and breakdown of materials, as well as overseeing the overall execution of recreational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to scheduled activities and remain for up to 1 hour post-activity for setup, breakdown, and cleaning duties.
  • Manage and maintain departmental facilities and equipment, ensuring proper opening, setup, and closure procedures are followed.
  • Provide assistance during events, including managing participant behavior, completing incident reports, and documenting interactions with officials and attendees.
  • Supervise any injuries and collaborate with coaches to determine if emergency services are necessary, ensuring access for responders and completing necessary reports.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the activities being conducted and provide assistance during any operational issues.
  • Report facility issues to the Program Coordinator or designated authority.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of current recreational activities and facilities.
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of Parks and Recreation.
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, county departments, and the public.
  • Capability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience in a structured recreation program or customer service role, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Availability typically required between 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM on weekdays, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexible scheduling options.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Subject to a criminal background check and recommended to obtain CPR certification.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and audibly.

Reports to the Recreation Manager.
