Job Overview

Botetourt County is seeking qualified candidates for multiple Seasonal Site Supervisor roles within the Parks & Recreation Department.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour

The selected individuals will be responsible for providing essential support for various recreational programs, which includes planning, leading, setting up and dismantling materials, and assisting in the overall management of recreational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to scheduled activities for setup and remain up to 1 hour after for cleanup and maintenance duties.
  • Manage and maintain department facilities and equipment, ensuring knowledge of operational procedures for opening, setup, and closing of venues.
  • Provide assistance during events, including managing participant behavior, completing incident reports, and documenting interactions with officials and attendees.
  • Oversee any injuries that occur, collaborating with coaches to determine if emergency services are necessary, and ensure proper access for medical personnel.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the activities being conducted and assist in troubleshooting any issues that arise.
  • Report facility-related issues to the Program Coordinator or designated authority.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of the activities and facilities offered by the department.
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of Parks and Recreation.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, other county departments, and the public.
  • Capability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a structured recreation program or customer service role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Availability typically required between 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM on weekdays, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexible scheduling options.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a criminal background check and are encouraged to obtain CPR certification.

Physical Demands:

This role requires effective communication skills, including the ability to speak and hear clearly.

Reporting Structure:

Reports directly to the Recreation Manager.
