Job Summary

This role supports the Branch Manager in overseeing the efficient operation of a small/medium/large branch office. The Assistant Manager, Branch Office, is responsible for supervising the branch team to provide members with a full range of Navy Federal Credit Union products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead the branch team to deliver exceptional member service and achieve business goals.
  • Assist the Manager in monitoring cash operations and branch self-auditing efforts to ensure the security and integrity of credit union assets.
  • Manage staff to ensure vault opening, closing, and balancing procedures are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Participate in outside marketing and promotional activities to engage with members and potential members.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new team members to ensure a smooth transition and high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage budget, purchasing, tracking, and records retention for business expenses.
  • Develop and guide team members to enhance their technical, soft, and leadership skills.
  • Support the team in achieving and maintaining product, service, and business goals, including cross-selling Navy Federal products and services.
  • Analyze reports and conduct trend analysis to optimize business performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all security, safety, and emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all HR-related policies, practices, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Scorecard criteria requirements as defined by Branch Operations Governance or applicable external experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal regulations governing consumer lending and/or credit cards, mortgage and equity loans, savings, and checking accounts.
  • Working knowledge of multiple financial products, such as consumer mortgage loans, credit cards, and/or savings/checking accounts.
  • Working knowledge of functions relating to cash and ATM operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment.
  • Exposure to member/customer service operations.
  • Exposure to mentoring and leading employees.
  • Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions.
  • Effective skill interacting with staff, management, vendors, and members diplomatically and tactfully.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Familiarity with financial institution and lending practices, principles, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with retail banking industry best practices.
