Job Summary:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Behavioral Health, you will provide a range of ambulatory behavioral health services, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, case management, and psychotherapeutic intervention to individuals, families, groups, and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs.

You will work with adults of all ages, adolescents, and children, as within the scope and licensure/certification.

Essential Responsibilities:

In collaboration with physicians and other behavioral health providers, you will manage care for patients with behavioral health conditions, including assessment, evaluation, education, and development of individualized plans of care, including medication management.

You will review and establish diagnoses, order and monitor diagnostic tests, and perform procedures as within the scope of practice.

You will utilize the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems (ICD) for diagnostic references.

You will be familiar with and utilize a wide range of the latest evidenced-based interventions and modalities.

You will provide psychotherapy and counseling for individuals, families, groups, and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs, utilizing a wide range of intervention modalities that support positive mental health and enhanced individual or family functioning.

You will provide services such as medication management, crisis intervention, brief therapy, individual, group, and family therapy.

You will interview members and evaluate their psychological and mental status.

You will refer members in need of immediate or urgent care to appropriate levels of services, within the time frame established by policy.

You will collaborate with physicians, primary care staff, and other interdisciplinary clinical team members involved in the assessment and care of patients.

You will follow program descriptions in areas of specialty as applicable.

Requirements:

You must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in mental health managing patients on psychiatric medications.

You must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in mental health providing direct clinical services with children and/or adults, including people with serious/chronic mental illness.

You must have a Master's degree in Nursing with a specialty in community mental health, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or a related field.

You must have a Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification.

You must have an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License with Prescriptive Authority (Hawaii) and a Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.

You must have a National Provider Identifier and Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.

Additional Requirements:

You must demonstrate knowledge of assessment using the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems (ICD), writing treatment plans, including medication management for patients with behavioral health conditions.

You must demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of working in an integrated behavioral health model within a primary care setting.

You must have a taxonomy code required at the time of hire.
