Job Summary

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Behavioral Health, you will provide a variety of ambulatory behavioral health services, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, case management, and psychotherapeutic intervention to individuals, families, groups, and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs. You will work with adults of all ages, adolescents, and children, as within the scope and licensure/certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage care for patients with behavioral health conditions, including assessment, evaluation, education, and development of individualized plans of care, including medication management. Review and establish diagnoses. Order and monitor diagnostic tests, perform procedures as within the scope of practice.
  • Utilize the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems (ICD) for diagnostic references. Be familiar and utilize a wide range of the latest evidenced-based interventions and modalities.
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling for individuals, families, groups, and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs. Utilize a wide range of intervention modalities, which support positive mental health and enhanced individual or family functioning. Provide services such as medication management, crisis intervention, brief therapy, individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Research, collect, and record data and information relating to identification and treatment of behavioral and interpersonal problems of patients. Formulate treatment plans for these conditions. Assist to establish clinical best practices and guidelines for delivery of service to population of patients served.
  • Document clinical assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and other relevant information in patient medical records according to regional and departmental guidelines. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and records in accordance with state and federal regulations and regional guidelines.
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in mental health managing patients on psychiatric medications.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in mental health providing direct clinical services with children and/or adults, including people with serious/chronic mental illness.
  • Masters degree in Nursing with specialty in community mental health, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or related field.
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification OR Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License with Prescriptive Authority (Hawaii).
  • Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • National Provider Identifier.
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of documentation according to national accreditation guidelines.
