Ambulatory Patient Care Specialist

The Ambulatory Patient Care Tech will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team under the direction of the Registered Nurse to perform basic nursing care activities, assist in maintaining a safe and clean patient care setting, and support staff members in directing patient flow.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and accurately document patient information, including chief complaint, current medications, allergies, and tobacco/smoking history.
- Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and head circumference, and orient families to the clinic environment.
- Recognize abnormalities and report them to the Registered Nurse or Provider, and assist in screening patients for pain using appropriate pain scales.
- Provide basic nursing care, such as providing nourishment, assisting patients with ambulating, and escorting patients at discharge.
- Check and ensure all relevant equipment is in working order, and perform corrective actions as needed.
- Collect specimens for testing, inform patients/guardians of the collection process, and offer brochures for specific healthcare needs.
- Meet Joint Commission/DOH documentation requirements, complete clean sweep tools, and maintain a neat and orderly environment.
- Assist with patient flow and unit efficiency, prioritize tasks, and obtain equipment and supplies.
- Monitor waiting rooms, provide directions, and identify children/families with special needs.
- Contribute to a positive work environment, communicate effectively, and demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change.
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum Work Experience: 2 years in an acute healthcare setting, preferably in pediatrics
- Certifications: C.N.A, PCT, or EMT
