Job Summary

The Ambulatory Patient Care Specialist will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team under the direction of the Registered Nurse to perform basic nursing care activities, assist in maintaining a safe and clean patient care setting, and support staff members in directing patient flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and accurately document patient information, including chief complaint, current medications, allergies, and tobacco/smoking history.
  • Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and head circumference, and orient families to the clinic environment.
  • Recognize abnormalities and report them to the Registered Nurse or Provider, and assist in screening patients for pain using appropriate pain scales.
  • Provide basic nursing care, such as providing nourishment, assisting patients with ambulating, and escorting patients at the time of discharge.
  • Check and ensure all relevant equipment is in working order, and perform corrective actions as needed.
  • Collect specimens for testing, inform patients/guardians of the collection process, and offer brochures for specific healthcare needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • C.N.A, PCT, or EMT Certification (Required)
  • 2 years experience in an acute healthcare setting, preferably in pediatrics (Required)
