Position Summary:
Due to the ongoing expansion of our Civil/Municipal Division, we are seeking a qualified Senior Municipal Engineering Project Leader to join our Lansing, MI office.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Municipal Engineering Project Leader will oversee the design and implementation of civil engineering projects from inception to completion. This role demands a combination of technical expertise in civil engineering principles and robust project management capabilities to ensure timely, budget-compliant, and specification-adherent project delivery.


  • Lead and provide technical guidance in the design of municipal engineering projects, encompassing geometric design, grading, drainage, utilities, roadway design, plan development, and cost estimation.
  • Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders and clients.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure project objectives and requirements are met.
  • Oversee the creation of engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Review and validate design plans to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, codes, and project specifications.
  • Act as the primary liaison for clients and stakeholders, maintaining ongoing communication and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, and schedule, proactively identifying and addressing risks and issues as they arise.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technicians, promoting collaboration and professional development.
  • Provide support and guidance to team members, ensuring clarity on project objectives and expectations.

Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in design and plan preparation.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a preference for candidates who are licensed Professional Engineers.

Familiarity with industry design standards, guidelines, and specifications (e.g., City of Lansing and surrounding municipalities, MDOT, etc.) is essential, along with proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D grading and/or Open Roads Designer.

Experience in independently preparing Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports is advantageous.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, particularly in engaging with reviewing agencies during the technical design process and addressing feedback effectively.
