About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Amergis. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by maintaining a sterile and functioning supply of medical/surgical materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling, and packaging of medical/surgical materials, including linen, instruments, and equipment, according to established standards and procedures.
  • Preparing trays for designated areas according to prescribed procedures.
  • Wrapping and/or packaging items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for designated areas.
  • Operating bar code instrument tracking system.
  • Working with operating room personnel to ensure specialty trays are handled in the prescribed manner.
  • Dissembling, cleaning, assembling, and testing specialty instrumentation and equipment for proper functioning.
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies and materials, including documenting usage, issuing, receiving, and reordering as assigned.
  • Adhering to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Certification as required by state regulations or contract specifications.
  • Certification for sterile processing technicians by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) may be required.
  • One (1) year of experience in sterile processing preferred.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
