About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As a key member of our Central Sterile Processing department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontamination and Cleaning of Reusable Medical Devices: Receive, sort, and decontaminate surgical/clinic items and instrumentation, inspect and package single instruments and instrument kits, and identify appropriate sterilization methods and cycles.
  • Assembly and Packaging of Reusable Medical Devices: Document all work performed, inspect and assemble equipment, instruments, scopes, and instrument sets, and identify and place internal indicators as required.
  • Sterilization and High-Level Disinfection of Reusable Medical Devices: Interpret package labeling to select appropriate sterilization methods and cycles, inspect packages to ensure all external indicators, filters, and/or labels are securely affixed, and perform routine sterilizer testing.
  • Inventory Management: Inspect items during the pick process to ensure package integrity remains intact, communicate unmet surgical supply requests to leadership, and return supplies not used after surgical procedures to their proper stock location.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred
  • Excellent organization, operations, people management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and instrument tracking software
Working Conditions

This role requires rotating weekend and on-call requirements, involves large amounts of time walking and standing, and exposure to the Operating Room environment. A strict dress code and professional appearance, including wearing surgical scrubs, are required.
