Role Summary:

The Mechanical Production Supervisor will oversee and guide a team of skilled employees by effectively communicating organizational objectives, safety protocols, and project deadlines. This role is pivotal in motivating team members, evaluating performance, and assisting management with hiring and training processes while keeping them informed about team dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Manufacturing Manager at the beginning of each shift to set clear expectations for the day's tasks and provides a summary of completed work at the end of the shift.
  • Manages team performance effectively, addressing any ongoing issues through established disciplinary and grievance procedures as necessary.
  • Contributes to performance evaluations and participates in the recruitment of new team members.
  • Plans and organizes project activities for the shift, assigning appropriate tasks to mechanical team members.
  • Ensures compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and productivity goals throughout the shift.
  • Offers real-time support to Mechanical Team Members to resolve any issues impacting the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Communicates project needs, material requirements, and any scheduling challenges to the Manufacturing Manager to optimize resource utilization.
  • Encourages open communication among team members to foster a shared understanding of objectives, methods, and progress towards goals.
  • Engages with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other Team Leads to exchange information necessary for problem-solving and project advancement.
  • Participates in Team Leader and Shop Floor meetings, project discussions, design reviews, and other relevant gatherings to disseminate critical information.
  • Supports training initiatives to ensure team members have a clear understanding of technical requirements and productivity expectations.
  • Reviews and approves requests for time off from mechanical team members.
  • Secures the facility at the end of the shift and maintains safety protocols.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.
  • May require travel as necessary.
  • Reviews and approves weekly time and attendance records for payroll processing.
  • Actively identifies and promotes Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in Mechanical Assembly and Welding is essential.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment or at client sites is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and engage in physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be capable of standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items, with exposure to loud environments.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) practices is advantageous.
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
