Role Summary:

As a Mechanical Fabrication Specialist at ABEC, you will be responsible for the assembly and fabrication of mechanical components using a diverse array of tools and equipment, adhering to precise specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately fabricate equipment while following established procedures within designated timelines.
  • Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and precision throughout the fabrication process.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with various hand tools, fabrication machinery, and measurement instruments.
  • Engage in stainless steel fabrication tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Cutting tubing
    • Operating hand grinders
    • Polishing surfaces
    • Bending materials
    • Assembling components
  • Conduct NDT/Liquid Penetrant inspections on internal welds of electro-polished vessels.
  • Install and maintain utility and service lines as required.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts safely.
  • Inspect and ensure the safe operation of all workshop equipment.
  • Perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Propose enhancements to existing processes.
  • Complete additional assignments as directed.
  • Be prepared to travel as necessary.
  • Actively participate in identifying and pursuing Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Junior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • A trade qualification in Pipe Fitting or Plumbing is advantageous.
  • Experience with stainless steel welding and polishing is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Competence in interpreting blueprints.
  • Skilled in using hand tools and basic fabrication equipment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or on customer sites is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) practices is a plus.
  • Prior experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
