Role Summary:

The Mechanical Production Supervisor will oversee and guide a team of employees by effectively communicating organizational objectives, safety protocols, and deadlines. This role involves motivating team members, evaluating performance, assisting management with hiring and training, and keeping management informed about team progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Manufacturing Manager at the beginning of each shift to set clear expectations for tasks to be accomplished and provides a summary at the end of the shift regarding work completed.
  • Manages team performance, addressing any persistent issues through the company's disciplinary and grievance procedures as necessary.
  • Contributes to performance evaluations and participates in the recruitment process for new hires.
  • Plans and organizes project activities for the shift, assigning appropriate tasks to mechanical team members.
  • Supervises mechanical team members during the shift to ensure adherence to safety policies, quality standards, and productivity goals.
  • Offers immediate support to Mechanical Team Members to resolve any challenges impacting the completion of assigned tasks (technical, procedural, material-related, etc.).
  • Communicates project needs, material requirements, and any scheduling issues to the Manufacturing Manager to optimize manpower resources.
  • Encourages open communication among team members to ensure a shared understanding of objectives, methods, and progress towards goals.
  • Engages with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other Team Leads as necessary to exchange information crucial for problem-solving and advancing work.
  • Participates in Team Leader and Shop Floor meetings, project discussions, design reviews, or similar gatherings to share essential information.
  • Supports training initiatives to ensure team members have a clear understanding of technical requirements and productivity expectations.
  • Reviews and approves requests for paid time off from mechanical team members.
  • Ensures security and locks the facility at the end of the shift.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Reviews and approves weekly time and attendance records for payroll purposes.
  • Actively identifies and promotes Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
  • Experience in Mechanical Assembly and Welding.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment or at customer sites.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform heavy manual labor.
  • Physical capability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items, with exposure to loud environments.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies is advantageous.
  • Prior experience with Lean/Six Sigma practices is a plus.
