About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Science Examiner 1 to join our team at the State of Connecticut, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP). As a key member of our Identification Section, you will play a critical role in analyzing and examining physical evidence in support of criminal investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex analyses of physical evidence, including DNA, fingerprints, and other forensic biology evidence.
  • Examine and compare evidence, such as firearms, ammunition, and other materials, to identify connections to crimes.
  • Utilize computer software and other tools to analyze and interpret data.
  • Prepare and present findings in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and in court.
Requirements
  • 6 years of experience in forensic analysis of evidentiary material.
  • College training in forensic science, applied genomics, biochemistry, chemistry, genetics, molecular and cell biology, or a closely related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders.
