Job Summary


Electricenergyonline is in search of a Welding Engineer to join our team, focusing on the Welding Program to support plant operations.

This role involves executing various tasks associated with the Welding Program, ensuring effective support for operational needs.

The selected candidate will also provide technical guidance to consultants, vendors, and team members to address welding-related challenges.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Identify, assess, and resolve welding engineering challenges promptly and accurately.
  2. Take initiative in tackling new and complex welding engineering issues while effectively managing associated risks.
  3. Communicate technical information clearly across all organizational levels through both verbal and written formats.
  4. Engage in industry working groups to discover and implement improved welding processes and techniques.
  5. Review and update program procedures to integrate improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to relevant codes and regulatory standards.
  6. Provide training to site personnel, including engineering, maintenance, and contractors, on program requirements and compliance documentation.
  7. Support site organizations and contractors in activities governed by the Welding Program Manual.
  8. Prepare and review work packages to confirm completeness and correctness of design outputs, including necessary hold points.
  9. Develop, optimize, and validate welding procedures and parameters.
  10. Review and approve Weld Records and ASME Section XI Code Repair Plans for modifications and maintenance tasks.
  11. Offer ASME/NBIC Code support and problem resolution.
  12. Assist during outages and address emergent issues, which may require flexible working hours.
  13. Support audit inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  14. Provide interpretations of industry guidance and assist in preparing Relief Requests as needed.
  15. Participate in mentoring and training less experienced personnel in the field.
  16. Attend relevant training sessions as directed by supervision.
  17. Engage in the Emergency Response Organization if assigned.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The following qualifications are required for various engineering levels:

  • Engineer I: Requires a BS degree in engineering.
  • Engineer II: Requires a BS degree in engineering plus two years of relevant experience or a MS degree in engineering.
  • Staff Engineer: Requires a BS degree in engineering plus four years of relevant experience or a MS degree in engineering with two years of experience or a PhD in engineering.
  • Senior Engineer: Requires a BS degree in engineering plus eight years of relevant experience or a MS degree in engineering with six years of experience or a PhD in engineering with two years of relevant experience.
  • Lead Engineer: Requires a BS degree in engineering plus twelve years of relevant experience or a MS degree in engineering with ten years of experience or a PhD in engineering with six years of relevant experience.

All degrees must be from an ABET-accredited program. Equivalent standards may be accepted upon review.

Relevant experience includes professional-level engineering, engineering support, or nuclear plant operations and support.

The candidate must possess engineering expertise in areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, or nuclear engineering.
