We are seeking an experienced Orthotic Technician to join our team at Hanger, Inc. in South Bend, Indiana. As an Orthotic Technician, you will be responsible for fabricating, modifying, and maintaining medical support devices such as braces and surgical supports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repairing, modifying, and maintaining medical support devices such as braces and surgical supports.
  • Bending, forming, and shaping material so that it conforms to prescribed contours needed to fabricate structural components.
  • Drilling and tapping holes for rivets, as well as gluing, welding, and bolting rivet parts together in order to form prosthetic or orthotic devices.
  • Reading prescriptions or specifications to determine the type of product or device to be fabricated, and the materials and tools required.
  • Constructing or receiving casts or impressions of patients' torsos or limbs for use in cutting and fabricating patterns.
  • Laying out and marking dimensions of parts, using templates and precision measuring instruments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job training
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to read instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Quality and time management skills
  • Dexterity of hands to perform manual labor as well as seeing/reading materials for accuracy
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information with patients, other staff, and the public
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds at least 75% of the time
