Key Responsibilities
- Operates at the service desk; manages incoming calls to the library and directs inquiries as necessary.
- Aids users in booking Group Study Rooms; issues TexShare cards, community eRaider, borrower's cards, and guest WiFi access to users.
- Acts as a point of escalation for customer service inquiries from Non-Primary Desk staff; directs users to appropriate subject librarians.
- Engages in the creation and revision of Access Services procedures and documentation; completes designated projects related to stacks management at the main library and remote storage locations.
- Prepares End of Shift, End of Day, and Incident Reports as required; submits Access Services Work Orders.
- Provides additional training for Student Assistants following initial training by the Student Assistant Supervisor; oversees the daily activities of student assistants, including monitoring schedules and reporting discrepancies to the Student Assistant Supervisor.
- Manages the inventory of reserve materials at the service desk.
- Conducts point of sale transactions utilizing a credit card processing system while adhering to PCI DSS standards.
- Collects and records statistical data on transactions outside of ALMA.
- Handles the intake of Lost & Found items.
- Performs regular security checks to ensure the safety of users and staff within the facility.
- May be responsible for opening and closing the facility as necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptability in work assignments.
- High attention to detail and precision.
- Proficient keyboarding skills.
- Outstanding customer service capabilities.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
