Archival Associate

This position plays a vital role in the Texas Tech University Libraries, supporting the mission of the institution by processing and maintaining manuscript collections. The successful candidate will work under general supervision, utilizing independent judgment and a comprehensive knowledge of tasks to accomplish the mission of the unit.
Key Responsibilities- Processing Manuscript Materials: The incumbent will process collections in an efficient manner, adhering to accepted archival principles and criteria. This includes producing finding aids, typing, copying, proofreading, and distributing inventories.
- Maintenance of Collections: The successful candidate will assist with maintaining collections, including determining locations, maintaining locator lists, and storing collections after processing is complete.
- Reference and Accessioning: The incumbent will assist the Unit Manager with reference-related inquiries, locating collections, and accessioning new materials.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of related experience.
- Knowledge and competencies of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team.
- Degree in History or a related field.
- Experience working in an archive or repository.
- Experience with Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and/or XML.
