JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Staff Accountant is tasked with delivering comprehensive financial services for assigned clients.

This role includes cash management responsibilities and regular interactions with District Managers, client vendors, and essential client contacts, in accordance with relevant Florida statutes.

This position reports to a GMS Vice President or senior leader.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Manage accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliations, financial statements, and budget preparation.

2. Ensure adherence to internal controls over financial reporting.

3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide adequate support for business units and assigned clients.

4. Execute month-end financial accounting close within stringent deadlines.

5. Develop fiscal year budgets for assigned districts.

6. Assist in business growth and address client needs.

7. Maintain general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and reconcile month-end balances.

8. Work with other departments to ensure accurate accounting for new or unique transactions.


9. Partner with the District Manager to review and propose annual operating, debt service, and capital improvement budgets for approval.

10. May coordinate and process District payroll.

11. Oversee external audits of client financials and other reporting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in a clerical office setting. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines are routinely used.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


This is primarily a sedentary role; however, some filing may be required, necessitating the ability to lift boxes, files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field with analytical focus, or equivalent work experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Email, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge and application of accounting software.

Skilled in preparing and presenting financials and budgets.
