Job Description

PURPOSE: Deliver exceptional customer service and drive store success as a Store Director at Albertsons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion customer service initiatives to meet or exceed Division goals.
  • Lead overall store operations, implementing Company and Division merchandising, operating, and sales initiatives.
  • Coordinate safety committees and ensure compliance with safety and health initiatives.
  • Maintain store conditions, product quality, and rotation, adhering to labeling standards and code date compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with Division scheduling initiatives and established policies, wage and payroll guidelines, and employment laws.
  • Direct and participate in the training and hiring of store personnel, providing guidance and instruction to department managers, supervisors, and associates.
  • Monitor associate job performance, making personnel decisions, including hiring, firing, layoff, promotion, and disciplinary action.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with proper cash handling procedures, accounting of sales, and safe procedures.
  • Control shrink, maintain and control inventory levels, and safeguard Company assets.
  • Develop operating budgets and control in-store operating, maintenance, expense, and supply costs.
  • Follow proper administrative procedures, complete required reports, and maintain accurate inventory of merchandise, supplies, and equipment.
  • Create and maintain positive community relations, developing and promoting communication channels with manufacturer's representatives, Store, Division, and Corporate personnel, and unions, where applicable.
  • Resolve associate complaints, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, working off the clock, and violations of the law, with guidance and support from the Human Resources Department.
  • Safely operate and handle all equipment and hazardous material.
  • Provide suggestions, feedback, and effective recommendations to District Manager or Division management teams on operational, personnel, and other issues.
  • Maintain and safeguard confidentiality concerning associates, store sales, and Company information.
  • Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity and in compliance with Company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Extensive retail background with prior management experience related to retail operations.
  • Thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills, and the proven ability to manage people.
  • Knowledge of every position under the Store Director's supervision, employment laws, and workplace practice policies.
  • Must be friendly and courteous, take initiative in performance of duties, and maintain composure in dealing with customers, co-workers, vendors, and other business partners in the store.
  • Must identify needs, problems, and opportunities and make short- and long-term decisions to maximize sales and gross margins.
  • Strong business and financial knowledge is required, including knowledge of basic accounting and computer software.
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to implement emergency procedures, including response to equipment and computer software malfunctions.
  • Must sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time, occasionally reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • May utilize cleaning supplies and chemicals from time to time.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required, and will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
