Job Title: Director of Operations

The Salvation Army Central Territory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Operations to oversee the operations of our thrift stores, warehouse, and fleet in the Kansas and Missouri area.

Job Summary:

The Director of Operations will be responsible for managing and coordinating activities related to budgeting, store sales, production, property equipment management, and work therapy assignments. This role requires a strong leader who can multitask, direct and manage personnel, and drive results in safety, operations, and sales.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage staff and resources with integrity and fiscal accountability.
  • Support the Administrator for Business in budget preparation and daily management of the center budget.
  • Review finance and sales reports daily/weekly and cross-check for accuracy.
  • Oversight of all product donation pick-up and store delivery.
  • Oversight of all warehouse production, working to find the most efficient and effective ways to control cost while meeting customer service needs.
  • Develop and support the implementation of Product Control Procedures to prevent shrinkage through theft or spoilage.
  • Oversee purchasing of supplies needed for production, following all purchasing policies for the center.
  • Work with vendors to ensure rag and bulk sales are handled effectively and at a profit to the center.
  • Maintain and review records concerning product acquisition, production, and sales, noting trends and taking appropriate action to maintain established quotas.
  • Provide Administrators with reports requested.
  • Oversight of store operations, including forecasting of sales and attending/leading monthly manager's meetings.
  • Work with the leadership team and ARC Command to develop marketing strategies and sales, overseeing the implementation of marketing in stores.
  • Oversight of the preventative maintenance of center properties and equipment, ensuring compliance with OSHA Safety Guidelines and TSA Policies.
  • Oversight of the ARC Fleet, ensuring compliance with Federal and State Regulations and TSA Commercial Motor Vehicle Policies.
  • Control property, utility, and product supply waste.
  • Manage minor property repairs and contact preferred vendors on projects.
  • Gather and submit bids for assigned property projects.
  • Work with TSA Leadership to determine opportunities for expansion and contraction of stores, submitting all financial, civic, property, and legal documents to the Administrator for ARC CFB processing and approval.
  • Work with TSA Leadership to complete and submit all necessary documents for lease renewals.
  • Assign, supervise, and train beneficiaries to maximize work therapy goals, working with the ARC Director for Rehabilitation Services.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have project management experience, the ability to direct and manage personnel, and a strong drive to increase safety, operations, and sales.
