Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in litigation and utilize a diverse array of advocacy tools.
  • Conduct community education presentations to raise awareness and inform clients.
  • Participate in occasional evening and weekend activities, as well as travel across the state as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Active membership in the South Carolina Bar.
  • Preferred experience in litigation and clinical settings, though not mandatory if there is a strong commitment to:
    • Public interest and poverty law.
    • Serving low-income, underserved, rural, and diverse populations.
    • Collaborating effectively with fellow advocates and agencies serving low-income communities.
  • Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Evidence, Family Court Rules, and Appellate Procedure.
  • Exceptional skills in relationship building, leadership, and research.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication abilities; bilingual skills are advantageous but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2016 and Microsoft Office 365.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record, as the use of firm vehicles may be necessary.
