Pediatric Acute Care Physician Assistant- CHI Surgery Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Acute Care Physician Assistant to join our team at the Children's Heart Institute. As a key member of our Pediatric and Congenital Heart surgery team, you will provide advanced provider care and clinical guidance to patients and their families, as well as the ancillary care team, regarding pre-operative and post-operative management.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct complex patient care procedures, including monitoring and ordering medications, under the supervision of a physician.
- Perform independent and physician-supervised rounding on the unit.
- Coordinate, direct, and implement patient care plans.
- Assist in collecting patient histories, screens for co-morbidities, and provides guidance and preventative health care as needed.
- Perform physical examinations and provides episodic care or problem-oriented care under the supervision of a physician.
- Order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests and interpret the results.
- Monitor the treatment program of the patient to inform the attending physician of pertinent medical information.
- Facilitate patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or preventive health.
- Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
- Maintain appropriate records and prepares chart documentation for review and counter signature by the physician.
- Prepare and care for supplies and equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified or specialty certification as required by department.
- Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work.
