Pediatric Acute Care Physician Assistant- CHI Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Acute Care Physician Assistant to join our team at the Children's Heart Institute. As a key member of our Pediatric and Congenital Heart surgery team, you will provide advanced provider care and clinical guidance to patients and their families, as well as the ancillary care team, regarding pre-operative and post-operative management.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct complex patient care procedures under the supervision of a physician.
- Perform independent and physician-supervised rounding on the unit.
- Assess and evaluate patients, providing appropriate treatment and monitoring.
- Coordinate and implement patient care plans.
- Assist in collecting patient histories and providing guidance on preventative health care.
- Perform physical examinations and provide episodic care or problem-oriented care under physician supervision.
- Order and interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests.
- Monitor treatment programs and inform attending physicians of pertinent medical information.
- Facilitate patient education on medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare chart documentation for review and signature by the physician.
- Current Texas licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as required by the department.
- Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment.
