Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Acute Care

As a vital member of the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery team, the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to children and families impacted by congenital heart disease. This position is ideal for those who are dedicated to advancing the health and wellbeing of the CHD community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced clinical care and guidance to patients and their families, ensuring comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative management.
- Engage with patients in both outpatient clinic settings and acute care environments, addressing their medical needs effectively.
- Conduct complex patient care procedures that require specialized training, while working under the supervision of a physician.
- Perform thorough patient evaluations and assessments, ordering necessary medications and treatments as appropriate.
- Coordinate and implement individualized patient care plans, ensuring optimal health outcomes.
- Assist in gathering patient histories and screening for co-morbidities, offering preventative health care guidance.
- Conduct physical examinations and provide episodic care under physician supervision.
- Order and interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests, communicating results to the care team.
- Facilitate patient education on medical processes, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Maintain accurate patient records and prepare documentation for physician review.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide necessary interventions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Qualifications:
- Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse and as an APRN-NP.
- Specialty certification as required by the department.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as mandated.
- Master's degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or completion of a post-master's Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
- Previous experience in a relevant clinical focus is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must reside and work within the designated state.
