Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

At UT Health Science Center, we're dedicated to delivering exceptional care to children and families affected by congenital heart disease. We're seeking an experienced Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our esteemed team at the Children's Heart Institute.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide advanced provider care and clinical guidance to patients and their families in the outpatient clinic setting and acute care environment.
- Conduct independent and physician-supervised rounding on the unit, ensuring seamless patient care.
- Perform relevant patient evaluations, assessments, and provide appropriate treatment, including medication management.
- Coordinate and direct patient care plans, collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Assist in collecting patient histories, screening for co-morbidities, and providing guidance on preventative health care.
- Perform physical examinations, provide episodic care, and problem-oriented care under physician supervision.
- Order laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests, interpreting results to inform patient care.
- Monitor treatment programs, informing attending physicians of pertinent medical information.
- Facilitate patient education on medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions, maintaining accurate records, and preparing charts for review.
- Perform within the scope of practice prescribed by licensure and certification, responding to emergency situations as needed.
- Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse and APRN-NP.
- Current specialty certification as required by department, excluding FNP certification unless paired with a post-master's certification in specialty.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as required by department.
- Masters in Nursing as NP or completion of a post-master's Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
- None; previous experience in area of clinical focus preferred.
