Manufacturing Engineer

Overview
The role involves delivering technical expertise to enhance operational efficiency and facilitate the implementation of new or modified manufacturing initiatives.

  • Design and implement trials aimed at cost reduction, including minimizing scrap, shortening cycle times, and reducing downtime.
  • Provide support to Maintenance and Manufacturing teams during equipment breakdowns, start-ups, and setups.
  • Advise on and assist in the development of effective setup and maintenance protocols.
  • Analyze and propose solutions to address issues related to non-conforming product flow-out.
  • Engage in manufacturing planning reviews for new programs.
  • Plan and conduct process development trials to establish necessary initial process capabilities.
  • Contribute to manufacturing enhancement initiatives and Kaizen events.
  • Be available for overtime as required by the immediate supervisor to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Carry out additional tasks as needed to meet departmental goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not entail direct supervisory duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in various CNC controls, tooling geometry, machine tool operations, and fixture design.
  • Comprehensive understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and controls.
  • Strong organizational abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Fundamental knowledge of relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.
  • Experience in PLC and robotic programming is preferred.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in metal removal and/or precision assembly manufacturing. This requirement may be adjusted by the department Manager and Human Resources Manager based on the candidate's qualifications.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk approximately 3 to 7 miles daily.
  • Capable of performing repetitive motions while standing or walking.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Must visually inspect for minute details during quality checks and be able to detect color variations.
  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Employees may be assigned additional duties as required.
