This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Earth & Environment Team as a GIS Analyst in our Nashville, TN office. As a GIS Analyst, you will be involved in projects that require the use of geographic information systems to analyze and interpret data. Your responsibilities will include providing technical assistance for capturing, modeling, and analyzing geographical and tabular data to illustrate and determine spatial relationships as it pertains to client projects. You will also provide support to technical staff and project managers by assisting with spatial mapping, discovering patterns and trends, and developing mapping applications and tools at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. Additionally, you will generate accurate and concise documentation assessing project areas, and with applying and integrating GIS data and perspective to solve environmental challenges across a variety of science and planning disciplines.
Your Impact
As a GIS Analyst, you will assist with performing GIS surveys and reports from field sites for project research and investigation. You will maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, compiling documentation, and analysis of incoming and existent data. You will also model and prepare topographic maps, graphs, and tabular data using GPS, aerial photographs, and other tools and data to determine exact locations of project areas, site impact, and associated physical and geographic sensitivities. Furthermore, you will perform basic professional GIS work relating to conducting investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys to gain further information relating to digital mapping, merging topographical data with external data, identifying the characteristics and conditions of a site, and determining the authenticity of spatial data.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field. You will also require 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience in discipline with prior GIS experience. Additionally, you will need experience with ESRI's Arc GIS platform, familiarity with AutoCAD, Python, Visual Basic, Arcade, or SQL programming, and analytical skills and prior experience with research techniques, modeling data, scanning and digitizing files, and experience maintaining records and databases with assigned projects.
